Job summary

Seaway Plastics is seeking a skilled mold maker in Port Richey, FL to build and revise customer-owned molds, read blueprints, and develop tooling strategies to meet production timelines.

You will operate CAM/CNC equipment, install electronics and hydraulics for mold builds, train apprentices, and ensure parts meet exact tolerances using micrometers and calipers, contributing to a collaborative, quality-focused team.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School diploma or GED.
• 5+ years in the tool making trade.
• Proficient geometry and math.
• Understands metals and tolerances.
• Ability to independently operate tool room equipment at a high level.
• Self-starter with professional and respectful demeanor.
• Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to changing customer demands.

Responsibilities

• Build and revise Customer owned molds.
• Strategize sequence of operations including visualizing cavity core work in mold.
• Read and interpret blueprints to match CAD files of tool being built.
• Verify dimensions using micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks, dial indicators and other inspection tools.
• Understand 3D files, sections, views and projections.
• Operate all pertinent equipment to accomplish mold build.
• Provide input on vent/core/gates design to engineering as needed.
• Install electronics, pneumatics, and hydraulics for mold build.
• Train and guide apprentices.
• Operate all Tool Room equipment at high competency.
• Complete mold build in the timeframe given.
• Plan approach to maximize build within quoted time.
• Explain needs and expectations from shop worksheet to workers on same project.
• Understand principles of cutting tools and processes for each.
• Create drawings for specialized work (water lines, cutters, EDM/wire).
• Create polishing map for polishing department.
• Pull drawings from Master CAM for associates.
