Job summary

Moriroku-Technology-North-America- Anderson Plant is seeking a 1st shift Mold Maintenance Engineer to maintain and improve mold tools and dies used in automotive component production. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and implement improvements to boost uptime and product quality.

You will troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical mold systems, weld where needed, and collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimize tooling performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering or related field; specialized mold maintenance training is a plus.
• 3–5 years of mold maintenance experience in automotive/manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on experience with injection, die-casting, or stamping dies; knowledge of tooling systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on molds, dies, and related machinery.
• Troubleshoot mold issues during production to minimize downtime.
• Inspect molds for wear, damage, and proper function; perform repairs as needed.
• Repair/replace seals, pins, hot runner, and ejector systems; weld as required (MIG/TIG/laser).
• Support mold changeovers and tooling adjustments to maintain output.
• Collaborate with engineers to improve mold design and processes.

Job description

MTNA Anderson Plant is searching for a 1st shift Mold Maintenance Engineer. The Mold Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the upkeep, repair, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of mold tools and dies used in the production of automotive components. The engineer ensures that molds operate efficiently, minimizing downtime and ensuring high-quality production standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Mold Maintenance & Repair:

• Perform regular preventive maintenance on molds, dies, and associated machinery.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with molds during production to minimize downtime.
• Inspect molds for wear, damage, and proper functioning; identify and rectify issues.
• Repair and replace components of the molds as necessary, such as seals, pins, hot runner, and ejector systems.
• Weld flash repairs and other welding requirements. MIG, TIG, and Laser.
• Ensure molds are cleaned, lubricated, and maintained in optimal condition for consistent product quality.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical hot runner systems, waterlines, hydraulic lines, and other mold related issues.

Tooling Support:

• Support tool changeovers to ensure minimal downtime and consistent production output.
• Work closely with the production team to provide technical expertise for mold setup and adjustments.
• Troubleshoot mold issues in injection machines to support production.

Process Optimization & Improvement:

• Collaborate with production engineers and managers to improve mold design, maintenance practices, and overall production efficiency.
• Recommend and implement improvements to mold processes to increase productivity and reduce wear.
• Analyze production data and suggest improvements to reduce mold damage and extend mold life.

Quality Control:

• Monitor the quality of molded parts and ensure that molds are producing high-quality parts within specifications.
• Work with quality control teams to assess and rectify any issues related to mold defects or part quality.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of mold maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and upgrades.
• Track mold performance and report on maintenance trends, failures, and solutions.
• Ensure all maintenance and repair procedures are documented and comply with safety standards and regulations.
• Provide training to operators and maintenance personnel on proper mold handling, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to address technical challenges related to mold design or functionality.

Safety & Compliance:

• Follow all safety guidelines and best practices while handling molds and equipment.
• Ensure that all molds and associated equipment meet safety standards and comply with industry regulations.
• Ensure that the work environment remains clean and free of potential hazards.

Skills & Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical certification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Or equivalent work experience.
• Specialized training in mold maintenance, tooling, or related manufacturing processes is a plus.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mold maintenance in an automotive or similar manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with injection molds, die-casting molds, or stamping dies.
• Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes, tooling systems, and troubleshooting methods.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in the use of maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and mold-related machinery.
• Familiarity with CAD software or other design tools for mold analysis and modifications.
• Strong understanding of metallurgy, material properties, and mold design principles.
• Experience in programming and operating CNC machines for mold repairs.
• MIG, TIG, and Laser welding required.
• Can troubleshoot with a multimeter effectively.
