Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System seeks a Mohs Laboratory Manager to oversee the Mohs laboratory operations within Dermatology. The role directs technical activities and staff, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care and accurate tissue processing for microscopic evaluation.

The position requires substantial medical lab experience and Mohs histotechnologist background, with a focus on safety, compliance, and collaboration with the dermatopathology team.

Qualifications

• Five to eight years of advanced medical laboratory technician experience.
• At least three years in Mohs histotechnologist role.
• NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages other Laboratory Managers, Supervisors, and staff on technical and critical strategic issues.
• Creates schedule and monitors efficiency of staff within the Mohs laboratory.
• Supports the health team in direct patient care decisions under the supervision of MD.
• Trains staff in laboratory safety and specimen preparation.
• Accounts for patient specimen identification logs.
• Maintains laboratory equipment and materials in the Mohs laboratory.
• Responsible for departmental statistics, and coordinates collection and preparation as required.
• Prepares laboratory documentation for CLIA, CLEP and OSHA.
• Records daily temperatures, Quality Assurance and Quality Control for all laboratory specimens and equipment.
• Implements approved policies and procedures to assure patient care compliance.
