Job summary

The Judge Group is seeking a Histotechnician for a Worcester, MA location. This per diem/part-time role runs for 12 months with extensions possible, typically on a schedule of 1 day per week.

The shift runs from 7:30 AM until surgery completion, often around 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Responsibilities include processing Mohs surgery specimens, cryostat work, slide preparation, and ensuring regulatory compliance and patient safety in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Mohs Histotechnology experience required.
• Hands-on experience preparing frozen tissue sections using a cryostat.
• Strong knowledge of histology lab procedures, tissue processing, staining, quality control.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment with accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Laboratory safety and regulatory compliance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process tissue specimens from Mohs surgery, embedding, freezing, cutting, staining, mounting sections.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot cryostats and lab equipment.
• Produce high-quality slides for same-day surgical margin evaluation.
• Label, track, and maintain chain of custody for all specimens.
• Collaborate with Mohs surgeon and clinical team to optimize workflow.
• Conduct routine QC and maintain lab records.
• Monitor inventory and coordinate supplies.
• Ensure HIPAA, CLIA, infection control, and safety standards.
