Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Module Process Engineer to join the Display Module Technology team. You will drive end-to-end display module processes from concept through manufacturing validation, collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors worldwide.

The role requires strong problem-solving skills, experience in EQ/process development for camera/sensor/optics, and the ability to manage schedules with a focus on quality and yield. Domestic travel is expected.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Physics, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering and 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in EQ/Process development in Camera, Sensor, MEMS, precision optics, Semiconductor, or related fields.
  • Experience in precision mechanical systems, precision assembly, flexures, and calibration systems.
  • Experience with thermal analysis, stress analysis, and multi-physics simulation tools.
  • Experience in failure mode analysis, root cause investigation, and problem-solving for product yield and quality issues.

  • About 10-20% international travel to work with vendors in factories

Job description

Apple is seeking a highly motivated process development and integration engineer to join the Display Module Technology (DMT) team within Display Technologies Organization. Our team is responsible for developing innovative manufacturing process technologies to address complex design challenges that directly impact Apple Displays technology’s future products, quality, and delivery. In this role, the individual will serve as a key focal point in the process development and integration of advanced display modules, from the concept and architecture stages through product engineering validation builds. We operate at a fast pace and require everyone to be highly motivated. A successful candidate should be a flexible thinker who can solve problems beyond their technical expertise. They should also have a proven track record of excelling in a diverse and cross-functional team environment.

Description

As a Module Process Engineer, you’ll drive the display or optical module process end to end, from proof-of-concept to volume manufacturing.

Minimum Qualifications
  • - B.S. Degree minimum in Physics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • - Experience in EQ/Process development in Camera, Sensor, MEMS, precision optics, Semiconductor, or other related industries.
  • - Experience in precision mechanical systems, precision assembly, flexures, and calibration systems.
  • - Experience with thermal analysis, stress analysis, and multi-physics simulation tools.
  • - Experience in failure mode analysis, root cause investigation, and problem-solving for product yield and quality issues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • - Ph.D. or M.S. degree in Physics, Material Science, or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in a related field is preferred.
  • - Experience in micro-assembly processes, including image capturing, precision handling, glue dispensing, curing, welding, and precision fastening technologies.
  • - Experience with force-controlled precision adjustment mechanisms such as fine-pitch screws, flexure stages, and clamps, along with best practices for locking alignment after active alignment.
  • - Experience in spring system engineering, like post-assembly stiffness adjustment, real-time spring constant tuning, and spring solutions for auto-thermal compensation.
  • - Experience with defining adhesives/glues requirements, characterizing properties, and developing processes.
  • - Experience with various actuators, including piezoelectric, electrothermal, electrostatic, electromagnetic, and voice-coil.
  • - Experience with optical calibration algorithm and active alignment optimization methods.
  • - Experience with lens system design and process, and optical spec (tilt, decenter, focus, wavefront error, etc.).

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $184,700 and $324,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
