Job summary

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Materials, or Industrial) or graduate degree in supply chain/operations.
  • Minimum 3 years hands-on experience with design and/or manufacturing process development.
  • Familiarity with factory operations, 5S, operator training, safety, and security.
  • Experience with international OEM partners and leading cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead yield, efficiency, and production metrics with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Own factory setup and sustainment of optical module manufacturing operations (SMT, Assembly, Test).
  • Provide executive-level BRR, NPR, ok2X reporting.
  • Analyze factory and field data; develop action plans and quality decisions.
  • Drive design improvements using data and predictive methods to prevent issues.

Description

We have an opportunity for a Technical Program Manager.The Technical Program Manager works in conjunction with the New Production Introduction group as well as a multi-functional team of Design, Supplier Quality, Test, and Global Supply Chain Managers to ensure top quality products and drive perfection into what we do.In this highly visible technical lead role, you will be working with cross‑functional teams and vendors to demonstrate your outstanding ability to combine knowledge of Optics, electronics, and projector module manufacturing with mechanics and manufacturing process / process controls / Automation and deliver results on a tight timeline is a requirement. Up to 25-30% domestic/international travel is expected.

Responsibilities
  • Work with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams, Provide leadership and drive yield, efficiency, and other production matrices to target; operational excellence in bringing-up scalable and sustainable mass-production process
  • Areas of ownership will include factory set-up and sustenance of technical operations functions associated with optical module manufacturing, including SMT, Assembly, and Test processes
  • Executive level status reports including BRR (build readiness review), NPR (New Product Review), ok2X, etc
  • Analyze data from factory, customer, field, etc, develop action plan and quality decision based on the data
  • Drive lessons learned into designs and use predictive methods to anticipate and avoid issues early in development cycle
  • Call out key concerns and options timely for resolutions to senior management
Minimum Qualifications
  • Degree in engineering (Mechanical, Materials, or Industrial preferred), or graduate degree in supply chain and/or operations.
  • Minimum 3 years hands‑on experience with design and/or manufacturing process development
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with factory operations, 5S, operator training, safety, and security.
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following areas:
  • Metal forming
  • Molding
  • Precision pick and place
  • Laser welding
  • Coil Winding
  • Heat pressing
  • Soldering
  • Additive Manufacturing
  • Fixture fabrication
  • Experience with compiling data and making recommendations for product designs and assembly drawings. This will include the use of Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis using Six Sigma principles.
  • Experience using process control methodologies, PFMEA, and in-depth failure analysis methods
  • Experience simulating line throughput and bottleneck resolution for high volume mass production
  • Demonstrated program management capabilities: schedule management, written and verbal communication, risk management, and escalation.
  • Proven track record of leading a multi-functional team in order to achieve new product objectives inclusive of quality, yield, and cost
  • Proven track record of solving complex problems in a timely fashion
  • Experience working with international OEM partners
  • Self-starter with innovation, integrity, and attention to details

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $133,500 and $246,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
