Job summary

Reframe Systems is building software-driven microfactories that make net-zero homes at scale. As a Building Systems Engineer you will define, document, prototype, and improve the standard assemblies, details, components, and interfaces that our projects draw from—while the day-to-day work stays decoupled from site execution to speed future builds.

You will own system-level subsystems (MEPF interconnect, electrical) end to end, lead optimization of wall panels and insulation, translate building

Qualifications

• 10+ years in construction products, prefab/modular construction, or related hardware.
• Deep understanding of light wood-frame construction and at least one: building science, MEP, or structural systems.
• Hands-on: prototype, build, and validate on the floor before publishing.
• Fluent in CAD and able to produce usable documentation.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the standard assemblies and details that make up our building system.
• Decide where variation is allowed and where the system is frozen, tracking deviations.
• Own system-level subsystems end to end (MEPF interconnect, electrical) from research to prototyping.
• Lead high-impact system optimization initiatives (enclosed wall panels, exterior insulation, structural).
• Translate building science and airtightness goals into buildable details and repeatable processes.
• Set product requirement standards for windows, exterior doors, fixtures for factory feasibility.
• Serve as a manufacturability gate for new or changed panel types and assemblies.
• Build mockups and first-article prototypes on the floor or yard with Manufacturing.
• Design for automation as a first principle to enable robotic/factory buildability.
• Maintain change visibility across the organization: what changed, why, who it impacts, when adopted.
