Job summary

UMass Amherst Hillel seeks a Modern Orthodox educator, or a co-educator team, to guide Jewish learning, practice, and engagement on campus. The Educator will join for select Shabbatot and chagim as mentor, educator, and advisor, supporting each student’s Jewish journey.

The role works with UMass Hillel’s Hadar Campus rabbi and staff to foster growth of the Modern Orthodox community within a pluralistic campus.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Jewish content from traditional texts to contemporary wisdom.
• Ability to mentor Orthodox students and contribute to a pluralistic community.
• Experience in Jewish leadership, Hillel, youth movements, or related settings.

Responsibilities

• Nurture the growth of the UMass observant community.
• Visit campus for 2-3 Shabbatot per semester and support services.
• Teach and facilitate learning; create opportunities for engagement through Jewish text.
• Build relationships with students through pastoral care and mentorship.
• Support student interests and help develop leadership.
• Collaborate with Hillel staff to ensure resources for observant students; remote availability between visits.
