Job summary

Larsen & Toubro in Foster City, CA, seeks an experienced telecom/test engineer to perform modem log analysis and triage in the telematics domain. You will analyze 4G-LTE, 5G-NR, Wi-Fi, GNSS, Ethernet, and IP behavior, identify root causes, and drive issues to closure with vendors.

Hands-on testing, diagnostics, and script development (Python, TTCN) are essential, along with drafting test plans and participating in design reviews. Automotive exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• 7–10 years of experience in telecom/test engineering or related roles.
• Experience with lab/test equipment, diagnostics, and scripting is essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform modem log analysis and triaging for telematics domain.
• Analyze 4G-LTE, 5G-NR, Wi‑Fi, GNSS, Ethernet, and IP behavior with internal teams and partners.
• Identify root causes of failures and drive to closure with vendors.
• Collaborate with Modem Vendor to discuss technical issues and drive them to closure.
• Be hands-on: develop tests, setups, scripts (Python, TTCN), and use lab/test equipment.
• Generate documentation: draft and present Test Plans, Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Data Reviews.
• Review supplier test plans and reports, provide constructive feedback.
• Develop test infrastructure: select, procure, and configure test cases on network emulators and equipment from vendors.
• Construct and maintain lab infrastructure from test harnesses to RF test setups.
• Automotive experience is a plus.

Required Skills:

• Modem log analysis and triaging for telematics domain.
• Analyze 4G-LTE, 5G-NR, Wi-Fi, GNSS, Ethernet, and IP behavior internally and with partners.
• Identify root causes of failures, whether found internally or externally.
• Collaborate with Modem Vendor to discuss technical issues and drive them to closure.
• Be hands-on and explore opportunities for improvement, relying on diagnostics, analytics, and lab/test equipment experiments.
• Generate Documentation - Draft and present Test Plans, Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and Data Reviews.
• Review and provide feedback on test plans and reports from suppliers.
• Develop Test Infrastructure - Select, procure, commission, and configure test cases on network emulators and related test equipment supplied by vendors such as Keysight or Rohde & Schwarz.
• Develop custom test assets, setups, and scripts to enable efficient testing, including scripts using Python and TTCN.
• Construct and maintain lab infrastructure, from fixed network test harnesses to RF c.
• Automotive experience is a plus.
