Job summary

Bowhead Family of Companies seeks a DoD SECRET cleared Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division. The role collaborates with government leads to develop system diagrams representing interactions. Candidates should have 3–5 years of MBSE experience, Cameo or similar tools, SysML, and strong communication skills. A BS in engineering is required, with ability to work across mechanical, electrical, and software teams.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in engineering, science, or technical discipline.
  • 3–5 years of professional technical experience with familiarity of Naval Weapon Systems.
  • Strong MBSE knowledge and experience.
  • Direct experience with Cameo Systems Modeler or MagicDraw.
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) proficiency.
  • Effective communication across organizational levels.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop system diagrams to represent system interactions with Government leads and engineers.
  • Collaborate with NAVY MBSE groups to refine practices and align common approaches.
  • Prepare technical documentation of model-based progress and advancement.
  • Provide logical ties to existing documents to support requirement definitions.
  • Foster growth of less experienced Systems engineers internally and for government engineers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE)

Bowhead seeks a DoD SECRET cleared Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) to join our team supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division.

The Model-Based Systems Engineer will work directly with the client analyzing complex and unique technical support assignments.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Work with Government leads and engineers to help develop system diagrams to represent system interactions
  • Knowledge and experience in Cameo (or other modeling software) and SysML architecture practices
  • Be able to work with a diverse group of engineers (mechanical, electrical, and software) to integrate in feedback and comments into robust models
  • Collaborate with other NAVY MBSE groups to help refine system engineering practices and align common practices
  • Provides logical ties to existing documents to show support for requirement definition
  • Helps foster growth of less experienced Systems engineers (internally and to government engineers)
  • Prepares technical documentation of model-based progress and advancement
  • Other duties as assigned
  • A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline
  • Three (3) to five (5) years professional technical experience with familiarity of Naval Weapon Systems
  • Possesses a robust knowledge of Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) methodology
  • Must have direct experience with the Cameo Systems Modeler tool and MagicDraw, or other MBSE based software
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time.
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.

Target salary is $100,000/annually to $150,000/annually commensurate with experience

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
