Job summary

Tactical Engineering & Analysis, Inc. seeks a Senior Model Based Systems Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and implementation of complex DoD systems for the US Navy and allied partners.

You will lead MBSE modeling using SysML, DoDAF/MODAF frameworks, and digital twin techniques to optimize performance and reliability. You will guide cross-functional teams, perform risk assessments, and support security clearance requirements as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
• INCOSE CSEP certification preferred for advanced MBSE proficiency.
• Experience with MBSE and model-based systems engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of complex systems using MBSE methods.
• Create and manage system models representing requirements, architecture, behavior and verification.
• Lead planning, integration, verification and validation activities with risk assessments.
• Decompose complex requirements into functional/performance specs within MBSE.
• Develop DoDAF/MODAF architectural views and ensure interface compatibility.
• Collaborate with customers and SMEs to drive technical issues to closure.
• Provide MBSE guidance and training to junior engineers.

Job description

The Senior Model Based Systems Engineer is responsible for contributing to the design, development, and implementation of complex systems. They will play a supporting role in achieving the organizations goals by support the NSWCDD Intelligent Automation Division (H60) for the US Navy, DoW, and Interagency partners with warfare technologies that represent the intersection of autonomy, artificial intelligence, robotics, and unmanned systems. This position will directly impact expansion of the US Navy into the field of Artificial Intelligence and through Large Language Model problem (LLM) solving and machine learning integration.

CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITES

• Has strong Independence to act on:
• Lead the development and implementation of complex systems using advanced modeling techniques.
• Create and manage sophisticated system models using SysML and MBSE tools to represent requirements, architecture, behavior, and verification processes.
• Lead technical planning, system integration, verification and validation activities, and evaluate alternatives including cost and risk assessments.
• Analyze and decompose complex system requirements into functional and performance specifications within a model-based framework.
• Develop architectural views using frameworks such as DoDAF/MODAF (UPDM) and ensure compatibility of all functional interfaces.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including customers and subject matter experts, to drive technical issues to closure and ensure alignment with project goals.
• Apply and promote MBSE methodologies to streamline development processes, reduce costs, and improve system reliability.
• Provide guidance and training to junior engineers on MBSE practices and tools.

$145,000.00 to $175,000.00 annually, DOE

U.S. Citizenship is Required

Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
