Job summary

The State of Connecticut, Department of Aging and Disability Services, BESB, seeks an Education Consultant For The Blind (Mobility Instruction) to support children who are blind or visually impaired, including those with multiple impairments. This position requires travel statewide and collaboration with families and education teams to deliver high-quality mobility instruction and related services.

Work is Monday–Friday, 35 hours, with a first shift, Windsor location at 184 Windsor Ave, Windsor,

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of experience teaching blind or visually handicapped adults.
• One (1) year of General Experience must have been in mobility instruction.
• College training with special courses in the education of the blind may substitute for General Experience (15 semester hours = 1/2 year; max 4 years for a BA).
• A Master’s Degree in mobility training may substitute for the General and Special Experience.

Responsibilities

• Utilize knowledge of education principles and the Expanded Core Curriculum to support students who are blind or visually impaired.
• Travel statewide to deliver high-quality mobility services.
• Collaborate with families and education teams to support student outcomes.
• Manage a caseload of students and provide consultation as needed.
