Job summary

Gila County is seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on cars, light trucks, trailers and equipment to keep county vehicles safe and reliable.

Responsibilities include road testing, servicing engines and transmissions, electrical systems, and operating service trucks and field calls, with after-hours on-call rotations. A high school diploma and two years of related experience are required, along with a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Two (2) years of direct, related on-the-job experience in vehicle maintenance/repair.
Valid Driver’s License required.
Basic training in gasoline engine maintenance, brakes, steering & suspension, basic electrical, climate control and gasoline engine repair.
Professional trade and/or technical certification desirable.

Responsibilities

Performs preventative maintenance, repairs, and inspections on County vehicles and equipment including sedans, SUVs, light trucks, trailers, and small engines.
Performs diagnostics to identify repairs and conducts road tests before and after repairs.
Maintains and repairs gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrain components, tires, brakes, steering/suspension, exhaust and electrical/electronic systems.
Assists with heavy-duty vehicle maintenance and repairs.
Operates service trucks and towing equipment for field service and after-hours on-call rotations.
