Job summary

Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Centers, Inc. seeks a Mobile Medical Unit Driver to transport patients between clinics and remote sites, ensuring vehicles are safe and ready for service.

You will operate multi-passenger vehicles, prepare daily trip logs, inspect vehicles, and coordinate with schedulers while adhering to infection control and PPE protocols. The role may include evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3 years of experience driving large trucks, RVs, or school buses.
  • Valid driver's license with appropriate auto insurance coverage.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties as specified.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients to medical appointments as scheduled.

  • Generate daily transportation schedules and coordinate with schedulers.
  • Inspect vehicle before trips and report any maintenance needs.
  • Maintain trip logs and fuel receipts with route documentation.
  • Keep vehicles clean and comply with infection-control protocols.
  • Follow OSHA safety guidelines and report delays or incidents.
  • Participate in community outreach events when requested.

Summary of Position

The Mobile Medical Unit Driver drives all Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Centers, Inc. (CRCHC) vehicles to
and from remote locations for patient services. The driver will participate as an integral member of the team. Ensures that all vehicles are in good driving condition to assure safety and continuity of operations. Remains compliant with all CRCHC mobile health units’ policies/procedures and serve in the role of set up and breakdown of all equipment at clinic sites and/or traffic control.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years of experience in operating large truck/RV/School Bus.
  • Must have reliable transportation and valid driver license with appropriate automobile insurance coverage.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties as specified in the job description.
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the safe and successful transportation of patients of all ages as scheduled to satisfy medical appointments.
  • Operate multi-passenger vehicles to transport passengers between destinations in a safe manner consistent with all CRCHC rules and regulations.
  • Generate daily patient transportation schedules and confirm with patient schedulers/practice manager (if when necessary)
  • Before every trip, check the condition of the vehicle's operational and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in safe working condition.
  • Fill out vehicle inspection form daily (submit weekly). Report any van malfunctions or needed repairs to the scheduler.
  • Prepare and submit daily trip log that includes site information, trip purpose, mileage, etc.
  • Submit fuel receipts daily.
  • Be able to read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
  • Be able to utilize route mapping app.
  • Comply with all traffic regulations.
  • Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to the proper personnel or scheduler.
  • Serve as liaison between passengers and patient appointment schedulers.
  • Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for rapid testing and clinic day on the mobile unit.
  • Keep the vehicle(s) clean, inside and outside.
  • Work with vendor to ensure vehicles are deep cleaned twice a week, including provision of necessary PPE to vendor.
  • Work with clinical staff to ensure restocking of vehicle, including bringing van over to clinic as necessary.
  • Utilize appropriate technique for donning and doffing PPE and appropriate hand washing techniques.
  • Maintain knowledge of and follow infection control protocols.
  • Dispose of all waste materials (biohazard and regular trash) following mobile clinics.
  • Maintain confidentially of sensitive or patient information.
  • Maintain contact with appointment schedulers to confirm any anticipated late arrival times.
  • Complete all job functions in a safe, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Participate in community outreach events as requested, which may include evenings & weekends.
  • Practice safety precautions related to OSHA regulations.
  • Follow all policies and procedures related to the center.
  • Must pass a drug test prior to employment and be willing to take a random drug test at all times
  • Be neat and presentable to the public.
  • Have an excellent driving record.
  • Perform other related duties as needed or assigned.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as directed by management.

Works in a typical office/clinical environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Occasionally outside environment when working the testing site and keeping grounds.

May require potential exposure to at-risk health conditions, blood borne pathogens, chemicals, medications, X-Ray, O2 and other potential health and/or safety hazards typical of a medical environment. Employee is required to be aware of and in compliance with CRCHC, state and federal OSHA regulations as they pertain to these factors, and others typical of a clinical setting.
