Pape’ Kenworth, a premier medium and heavy-duty truck dealer, is seeking a Mobile Truck Technician / Mechanic to join our team in San Leandro, CA. This swing-shift role services customer sites with Class 7 & 8 trucks, performing diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance to maximize uptime.

You’ll work Monday–Friday 12:00pm–8:30pm, bring 3+ years of experience, own tools, and a Class A CDL preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working on medium and heavy-duty class 7/8 trucks, including engine repair, electronic troubleshooting, HVAC systems, and chassis repair.
• Basic computer knowledge; Cummins and MX software experience preferred.
• Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision, and strong communication skills.
• Driver’s license with a clean record; Class A CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair trucks in the field at customer locations to maximize uptime.
• Repair or rebuild components including engines, transmissions, axles, brakes, and electrical systems.
• Maintain and service trucks to ensure reliability and safety.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

As our Mobile Truck Technician / Mechanic, you will work in the field at customer locations on medium and heavy-duty class 7 & 8 trucks, ensuring repairs are done accurately and timely. All your hard work is geared toward supporting our customers and maximizing their uptime. When a truck is sidelined, you will be a primary member trusted to get it back in service quickly and correctly the first time.

This role demands both technical expertise and the ability to think critically under pressure. You will be responsible for analyzing and diagnosing truck malfunctions or system failures, then determining the best course of action to return the truck to peak performance. That may mean repairing or rebuilding cabs, steering systems, engines, transmissions, axles, differentials, brakes, clutches, electrical systems, or air systems.

Beyond repair work, you will also be expected to maintain and service trucks to ensure reliability, minimize downtime, and extend the life of each vehicle. The role requires not just hands-on mechanical ability but also sound judgment, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to deliver work that meets the highest standards of safety and quality.

This team member will work Monday – Friday 12:00pm -8:30pm.

WHAT YOU NEED:

• 3 or more years of experience working on all makes and models of medium and heavy-duty class 7/8 trucks, including engine repair, electronic trouble-shooting, HVAC systems, and chassis repair.
• Basic computer knowledge. Cummins and MX software experience preferred.
• Self-motivation and assertiveness.
• Ability to work under little or no supervision.
• Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
• Must provide own tools.
• Driver’s license with a good driving record. Class A CDL preferred.

Compensation: $43.75-49.50/hr (Depending on Experience)
