Pape Truck Leasing, a premier medium and heavy‑duty truck and equipment dealer in the West, seeks a Mobile Truck Technician / Mechanic in Sacramento, CA. You will diagnose and repair medium and heavy‑duty class 7 & 8 trucks at customer sites, ensuring uptime and first-time fixes.

The position runs Monday–Friday, 12:00 pm–8:30 pm, with pay of $37.90–$40.40/hr, strong benefits, and growth opportunities within a family‑owned company with extensive locations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience on medium/heavy-duty class 7/8 trucks including engine repair, electrical trouble-shooting, HVAC, and chassis repair.
• Kenworth Essentials certifications preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge; Cummins and MX software experience preferred.
• Must provide own tools.
• Driver's license; Class A CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair medium/heavy-duty class 7/8 trucks at customer locations to maximize uptime.
• Analyze and diagnose malfunctions or system failures and determine best course of action.
• Repair or rebuild cabs, engines, transmissions, axles, brakes, electrical or air systems.
• Maintenance and service to minimize downtime and extend vehicle life.

WHAT YOU?LL DO:

As our Mobile Truck Technician / Mechanic, you will work in the field at customer locations on medium and heavy-duty class 7 & 8 trucks, ensuring repairs are done accurately and timely. All your hard work is geared toward supporting our customers and maximizing their uptime. When a truck is sidelined, you will be a primary member trusted to get it back in service quickly and correctly the first time.

This role demands both technical expertise and the ability to think critically under pressure. You will be responsible for analyzing and diagnosing truck malfunctions or system failures, then determining the best course of action to return the truck to peak performance. That may mean repairing or rebuilding cabs, steering systems, engines, transmissions, axles, differentials, brakes, clutches, electrical systems, or air systems.

Beyond repair work, you will also be expected to maintain and service trucks to ensure reliability, minimize downtime, and extend the life of each vehicle. The role requires not just hands‑on mechanical ability but also sound judgment, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to deliver work that meets the highest standards of safety and quality.

This team member will work Monday ? Friday, 12:00 pm ? 8:30 pm.

WHAT YOU NEED:

• 3 or more years of experience working on all makes and models of medium and heavy-duty class 7/8 trucks, including engine repair, electronic trouble‑shooting, HVAC systems, and chassis repair.
• Kenworth Essentials certifications preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge. Cummins and MX software experience preferred.
• Self‑motivation and assertiveness.
• Ability to work under little or no supervision.
• Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
• Must provide own tools.
• Driver?s license with a good driving record. Class A CDL preferred.

Compensation: $37.90-40.40/hr (Depending on Experience)
