JOB SUMMARY

To support growth of the company, Fleet Services By Cox Automotive is currently hiring a Mobile Trailer Technician II to join our team! This is a dedicated on-site position and we do not provide emergency roadside repairs. The Mobile Trailer Technician II will be responsible for performing certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light repairs, and other duties as assigned such as aluminum and chem-lite, trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps, engines, liftgates, brake chambers, welding, fabrication, and replacement of panels, body, and framework. Work is performed at the customer's site.

DUTIES

  1. Preventive maintenance and repairs on ThermoKing, Carrier and other refrigeration equipment; DOT inspections on Freightliner and Mack Trucks.
  2. Diagnose and repair/replace compressors, coils, electrical components, etc.
  3. Always follows and complies with safe operating practices and procedures.
  4. Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on company-issued service truck.
  5. Maintain and operate company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections.
  6. Work effectively with clients and customers to assess needs and provide assistance.
  7. Manage concurrent assigned tasks and prioritize work-related activities.
  8. Act with integrity and adhere to ethical and professional standards.
  9. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs.
  10. Document work performed according to company standards using company-issued devices.
  11. Maintain a high level of productivity and work within Standard Repair Times.
  12. Communicate with management and support team to obtain approvals on repair estimates.
  13. Comply with organizational safety, health, and environmental policies.
  14. Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers and vendors.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field.
  2. At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.
  3. Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
  4. OEM training and certifications are preferred.
  5. This position follows DOT regulations; candidate must pass pre-employment background screening and DOT physical.
  6. Must be at least 21 years or older due to interstate commerce regulations.
  7. Safe drivers needed; must hold a valid state-of-residence driver’s license.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS

ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems)

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  1. Knowledge of trailer parts and systems for repairs or maintenance services.
  2. Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods.
  3. Ability to communicate information effectively.
  4. Use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternatives.
