Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a mobile GPS/telematics installation technician to serve customers across California, performing installations on trucks and fleet assets with a strong emphasis on safety and quality. You will read wiring diagrams, use hand and power tools, and document work while providing excellent customer service.

The role requires 21+ years old, a valid license, and the ability to travel to customer sites, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working around vehicles.

Qualifications

• Hands-on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics
• Comfortable using hand and power tools
• Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working independently in a mobile environment
• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work
• Professional communication and customer service skills
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in, around, and underneath vehicles and trailers
• 21+ years of age
• Telematics/GPS/ELD installation experience preferred
• Experience with Samsara, Geotab, Motive, Verizon Connect, Lytx, or similar platforms preferred
• 12V/24V electrical experience preferred
• Commercial truck or trailer experience preferred
• ADAS scanning or calibration experience preferred
• ASE, I-CAR, or related certifications preferred
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions
• Protech uses E-Verify to confirm the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates expertise in GPS, ELD, and telematics installation and troubleshooting, with a strong focus on vehicle electrical systems and safety.
• Proficient in performing 12V/24V wiring and diagnostics while ensuring high-quality installations and customer service.
