Job summary

Mckinney Trailers in Kentucky is seeking a skilled equipment maintenance technician responsible for repair, fabrication, and safety compliance across a fleet of Class 8 trailers.

You will meet with the service team daily, record work, inspect inventory, perform welding, and ensure all repairs keep pace with operational demands. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED accepted; or two years of equipment maintenance experience or training.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business materials and regulations; write reports and communicate with managers and staff.
• Ability to perform basic math and apply algebra/geometry concepts in daily tasks.
• Valid driver’s license in the state of employment.
• Excellent communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• One to two years welding experience including fabrication of metal parts and assemblies.
• Experience with FHWA inspections.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing ABS and brake components.

Responsibilities

• Meets daily with Service Manager and operations personnel to discuss upcoming orders and equipment demands.
• Uses repair orders to document all work performed and submits daily completed equipment lists.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, local laws and company standards for safety and reliability.
• Oversees shipping/receiving, including inspecting, storing, and retrieving inventory.
• Drives and spots equipment in yard.
• Reports all costs of equipment added to fleet.
• Repairs and maintains Class 8 trailers; logs hours spent on repairs.
• Fabricates and welds, designs and installs interiors into trailers; works safely.

Job Description:

• Responsible for the repair and maintenance of class 8 trailersl; Logs hours spent on repairs.
• Fabricates and welds, custom designs and installs interiors into trailers; Works in a safe manner.

Job Requirements:

• A High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years verifiable equipment maintenance related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in equipment maintenance and repair.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Communicates with a wide range of individuals from yard staff to upper management
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
• A valid driver’s license issued in the state of employment.
• Strong work ethic and a desire to succeed.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Attention to detail and highly organized.
• One to two years welding experience including fabrication of metal parts and assemblies.
• 1 Plus years of experience performing FHWA Inspection.
• 1 Plus years of experience Troubleshooting and repairing ABS.
• 1 Plus years of experience Troubleshooting, repairing and replacing brake components.
