Job summary

J.B. Hunt’s Maintenance team seeks a Mobile Technician II to perform intermediate service and repair of tractors, trailers, chassis and power equipment at customer sites or rail yards using our mobile service truck.

You will work outside the shop under routine supervision, documenting work performed, and assisting with onboarding of trainees while maintaining safety at all times. The role requires flexibility for shifts, including nights and weekends when needed.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
• Possess a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines
• Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through toolbox program
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed

Responsibilities

• Perform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and repairs on tractors or trailers
• Troubleshoot and repair ABS system
• Operate the mobile service truck and manage truck inventory
• Assist with onboarding and mentorship of trainee technicians
• Follow safety requirements onsite and at customer locations
• Accurately complete work orders and documentation
• Document damage to equipment for cost estimation
• Demonstrate use of cutting torch and welding for mid-level repairs
• Patch holes in trailer or container panels and roofs
• Perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under supervision

Job Summary:

As a Mobile Technician II, you are responsible for performing intermediate service and repair of J.B. Hunt tractors, trailers, chassis, containers or power equipment. Under routine supervision, this role works outside of the shop, servicing equipment at customer sites or rail yards using our mobile service truck.

Job Description:

$1,500 sign on bonus available for limited time.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and repairs, including tire replacements, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics and basic structural repairs on tractor or trailer equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair ABS system
• Properly operate the mobile service truck and attend to truck inventory
• Assist with the onboarding and mentorship of tractor technician trainees
• Follow all safety requirements while onsite and at customer locations
• Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures
• Properly document damage to company equipment to estimate cost of repairs
• Demonstrate proficient use of a cutting torch and welding equipment to perform mid-level repairs on chassis, frames, and other equipment
• Patch holes in trailer or container side panels and roofs
• Perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under direct supervision

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent AND Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences
• Possess a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines
• Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
• At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes
• Welding certification Forklift certification and experience EPA section 608 certification and refrigeration license
• Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds) Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)

The expected starting pay range for this position is between $26.53 - $39.79

This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.

Compensation:

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
