Job summary

Barclays Whippany, NJ is seeking a Mobile Software Engineer - iOS to own native iOS development from architecture through App Store release, collaborating with product, design, and backend engineers.

You will contribute to the Easypay mobile experience and real-time transaction capabilities, leveraging Swift/SwiftUI, MVVM, and CI/CD tooling to deliver secure, scalable software for millions of customers.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in building production iOS apps with Swift and SwiftUI.
  • Strong knowledge of iOS architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture) with UIKit/SwiftUI.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, secure data handling, and mobile auth flows.
  • Familiar with release pipelines, App Store submissions, and CI/CD tooling.
  • Ability to write testable, well-structured code with unit/UI tests.

Job description

Embark on a transformative journey as a Mobile Software Engineer – iOS. At Barclays, our vision is clear –to redefine the future of banking and help craft innovative solutions. Join our US Consumer Bank technology team delivering the Easypay mobile experience and real-time transaction capabilities that serve millions of customers. You'll own native iOS development end-to-end, from architecture through App Store release, collaborating with product, design, and backend engineers.

To be successful as a Mobile Software Engineer - iOS, you should have:

  • Solid experience building production iOS applications using Swift and SwiftUI
  • Sound understanding of iOS architecture patterns, such as MVVM, Clean Architecture along with UIKit and SwiftUI frameworks
  • Experience with RESTful API integration, secure data handling, and mobile authentication flows
  • Familiarity with iOS release pipelines, App Store submission, and CI/CD tooling
  • Ability to write testable, well-structured code with unit and UI test coverage

Other highly valued skills include:

  • Android development experience, including Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
  • Experience with CI/CD for mobile using tools such as Fastlane, Bitrise, and GitHub Actions
  • Background in financial services, transaction processing, or the card servicing domain

This role is located in our Whippany, NJ office.

Minimum Salary: $75,000
Maximum Salary: $135,000

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities
  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
