Job summary

JX Truck Center in Niles, MI is seeking a Mobile Service Technician to perform diagnostic testing, maintenance, and repairs to keep customer fleets on the road. The role requires a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule (8:00am–4:00pm) with a focus on preventive maintenance, repairs, and ensuring compliance with vehicle standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or trade/college education in a diesel technology program preferred.
• 2-5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred (willing to obtain).
• Attention to detail and mechanical knowledge.
• Reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles and perform diagnostic tests to determine condition and perform maintenance.
• Keep equipment available by following preventive maintenance schedules and upgrades.
• Repair, replace, or adjust major assemblies and components as needed.
• Test vehicles for engine, safety, and emissions compliance as required by regulations.
• Maintain thorough service records and document repairs performed.
• Test drive vehicles to verify proper operation after service.
• Collaborate with team and leadership to ensure positive customer experiences.
• Perform other duties as needed to support business.

The Opportunity (Job Purpose):

What You'll Do Day-to-Day (Essential Duties & Responsibilities):

• Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts and performing all levels of maintenance services.
• Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades, controlling corrosion, and completing winterization procedures.
• Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.
• Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
• Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
• Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
• Collaborate closely with team members and leadership to continuously cultivate positive experiences for our customers.
• Perform other dynamic duties and responsibilities as assigned to support business

What We're Looking For (Qualifications & Skills):

• Education & Experience: High School Diploma /Trade school or college education in a diesel technology program is preferred and 2-5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Mechanical knowledge required.
• Attention to detail
• Valid Driver's License required; CDL preferred (must be willing to obtain).
• Dependable and reliable attendance required.
