Description

CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit agency, is looking for full‑time Mobile Resource Specialist(s). The Mobile Resource Specialist is responsible for identifying unsheltered homeless individuals through direct street outreach and building relationships, providing advocacy, and assisting with connecting individuals to services and housing. The role includes providing community resource information, making appropriate referrals, following up on referrals, and offering any other necessary referrals to support clients in stabilizing their homeless, mental health, and primary health situations. Approximately 90% of time will be spent out in the community engaging unhoused individuals.

Responsibilities
  • Identify people experiencing unsheltered homelessness in designated counties.
  • Build relationships with people experiencing unsheltered homelessness, providing advocacy, and assisting with connecting individuals to services and housing.
  • Work collaboratively with the County and coordinated entry to assist individuals in accessing housing.
  • Assess client needs and provide information and community referrals including clothing, food, shelter, rapid housing services, rental assistance, general assistance, etc.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a mental health discipline or high‑school diploma/ GED with at least 1 year of related experience.
  • Knowledge of wellness, the mental health system, and community resources in the region.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain trusting, recovery‑oriented relationships with individuals who have received mental health and/or substance use services.
  • Proficiency in Excel, MS Office products, and general computer literacy.
  • Willingness to disclose mental health and/or substance use services and speak openly about recovery.
  • Proven ability to engage and support individuals with mental health diagnoses using empathy, professionalism, and trauma‑informed practices.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Must have a valid NJ Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience living with a mental health diagnosis or substance use (lived experience) is prioritized.
Benefits

Full‑time, 40 hours per week, benefit eligible (Medical, free DMO dental, and free vision); 6 weeks paid time off and 11 holidays.

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $24.04
