Job summary

First Response Rail Service, Inc is seeking a dependable Mobile Railcar Repair Technician who will travel to customer locations in a company-owned Freightliner service truck to inspect, maintain, and repair railcars. This role blends hands-on mechanical and welding work with safe operation of a commercial vehicle.

Responsibilities include mobile inspections, diagnosing problems, repairing brake systems and related components, welding, loading and securing tools, completing pre-trip and post-trip

Qualifications

Must possess a Class B CDL with a clean driving record.
Safe operation of a commercial vehicle; DOT/medical requirements.
Experience in railcar maintenance, welding, or heavy equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

Safely operate a Freightliner service truck to and from customer sites.
Perform mobile inspections, maintenance, and repairs on freight railcars.
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine repairs.
Repair or replace railcar components, including brakes, couplers, doors and safety devices.
Perform welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication as required.
Load and secure tools and parts; complete trip inspections and records.
Maintain logs, inspection forms, and service documentation.
Follow DOT, FRA, OSHA, and site safety requirements; respond to after-hours calls.
