Job summary

Oklahoma Blood Institute in Amarillo, TX is hiring phlebotomists with world-class, paid on-the-job training. No phlebotomy experience is required. You will support donor registration, vital signs, phlebotomy and related duties while ensuring a safe, welcoming blood-donation experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college coursework is a plus

Responsibilities

• Perform donor registration, vital signs, medical screening, phlebotomy, heat sealing, and related recordkeeping duties for whole-blood and other collection services
• Perform duties associated with autologous, directed, therapeutic, testing, research, and other specialized blood collection services as assigned
• Strictly follow all standard operating procedures and ensure blood products are collected in accordance with quality standards established by regulatory agencies, including the FDA
• Assist the supervisor with verifying and completing daily paperwork and documentation
• Promptly communicate equipment concerns, venipuncture issues, donor questions or concerns, and other problems to the supervisor
• Continually assess donor needs throughout the donation process
• Recognize, evaluate, and assist with appropriate treatment of donor reactions
• Educate donors regarding blood donation, including donation frequency and the importance of maintaining an adequate blood supply
• Maintain a professional, safe, and welcoming environment for all donors
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
