Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy technician certificate preferred.
• If not certified, completed hospital or major lab training program is required.
• Understanding of standard blood drawing practices and procedures.
• 2 years proven experience as a phlebotomist.
• Good interpersonal skills and communication.
• Able to work nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
• Strict adherence to safety regulations and manuals.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and sterilization.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Must have adequate automobile insurance and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Identify patients using wristbands or documents.
• Assemble supplies and equipment required for specimen collection.
• Identify priorities such as Stat, timed, or routine.
• Draw blood using proper equipment and techniques.
• Label test tubes correctly and transport to testing.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate records.
• Adhere to safety standards and dispose of sharps and waste properly.
• Provide patient education and answer questions.
• Attend meetings and training programs.
