Job summary

Diagnostic Laboratories & Radiology in Overland Park, KS is seeking a Phlebotomist to drive to client facilities (primarily nursing homes) to collect blood samples, following strict identification and labeling procedures. You will maintain PHI compliance, coordinate with dispatch and lab teams, and keep accurate time and logs.

The role requires current licensure as applicable, a valid driver’s license, and excellent English communication.

Qualifications

• Must have current clinical licensure where required by state.
• Knowledge of medical terminology related to lab work.
• Proficient in phlebotomy procedures including venipuncture.
• Knowledge of specimen preservation and patient prep.
• Must have valid driver's license and auto insurance.
• Access to a vehicle meeting daily driving needs.
• Good driving record.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and keep time records.
• Understand resident rights and patient care/refusal.
• Ability to obtain blood samples from patients in various conditions.
• Excellent written/verbal English.
• Ability to work well with clients, patients and staff.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Professional conduct and direction adherence.

Responsibilities

• Drive personal vehicle to client facilities (mostly nursing homes) as directed by dispatcher or supervisor.
• Follows established phlebotomy procedures for obtaining blood samples.
• Identify patients correctly prior to drawing.
• Ensure specimens are properly labeled and accompanied by requisitions.
• Follow phlebotomy policy on transporting PHI.
• Plan and organize draw schedule with patient priorities.
• Complete written logs, timesheets, and records neatly.
• Coordinate with dispatch, payroll, lab, and courier teams.
• Maintain all equipment and report issues promptly.
• Respond to on-duty notifications and be available for assignments.
• Notify dispatch of availability for future assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.
