Pay Rate

$18.00-$20.00 based on experience

ROLE

The Mobile Phlebotomist, under the general supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, provides clinical pre‑analytical laboratory services to clients and patients in a mobile setting. The role requires completing assigned routes safely and on time while following all policies and procedures.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drive vehicle to client facilities, typically nursing homes, as directed by the dispatcher.
  • Unload the phlebotomy tray and transport it to the patient’s bedside to collect ordered samples.
  • Accurately identify the patient before collecting specimens.
  • Collect, label, process, and deliver specimens in accordance with protocols.
  • Reload equipment and specimens into the vehicle for prompt delivery.
  • Regularly communicate with the dispatcher to report status and location.
  • Strictly adhere to Universal Precautions to control blood‑borne pathogens and infections.
  • Maintain required certifications, health requirements, and operational standards.
  • Keep the work area clean.
  • Follow all safety precautions at all times.
  • Report any unsafe conditions in the workplace.
  • Report all complaints and problems encountered.
  • Monitor supplies inventory, report low or out‑of‑stock situations, and segregate expired supplies.
  • Enter work promptly, maintain proper grooming, and wear proper identification when visiting a facility.
  • Accurately maintain time records of hours worked and submit them to the company as directed.
  • Manage the assigned shift, including meal breaks.
  • Follow all specimen preservation, patient preparation, and specimen management procedures without personal deviation.
  • Use only approved current documents and make changes to records only per approved instructions.
  • Provide on‑call coverage during evenings and weekends as needed; be available for irregular unscheduled overtime based on workload or absenteeism.
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Excellent communication and interaction skills with pediatric and geriatric populations.
  • Respectful, dignified, and discreet treatment of customers and patients, acknowledging residents’ rights and patients’ right to refuse.
  • Regular, reliable attendance.
  • Current, valid State phlebotomy license (if required).
  • Current, valid State driver’s license; car insurance; good driving record; and a vehicle in good working condition suitable for daily driving requirements.
  • Proficiency in venipuncture and skin puncture using vacutainer and syringe techniques.
  • Knowledge of laboratory operations.
  • Maintenance of sterile, sanitary conditions to prevent contamination.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands of this job include frequent walking, standing, handling, talking, hearing, occasional sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. The employee may lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role operates in all weather and driving conditions. The work environment is a standard medical laboratory setting with potential health hazards. Employees are expected to use personal protective equipment and follow safety policies and procedures as prescribed in the Environmental Health and Safety Manual.
