Job summary

Astrana Health, Inc. is seeking a Mobile Phlebotomist to support the Quality – Clinical Operations team in Fresno, CA. The role combines blood draws with in-home and in-clinic clinical support, working under a Nurse Practitioner to help close care gaps.

The ideal candidate is patient-focused, adaptable, and passionate about improving access to care for underserved populations, with travel to patient homes within ~30 miles and mileage reimbursement provided.

Qualifications

• Active CPT I phlebotomy certification is required.
• At least 1 year of phlebotomy experience in a clinical or similar setting.
• Active BLS certification.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with patients.
• Ability to work independently in field and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Support Clinical Operations with in-home and in-clinic patient visits.
• Perform blood draws and safely transport specimens.
• Operate health screening devices (A1C testing, retinal eye exams, osteoporosis screening).
• Assist with Health Risk Assessments (HRAs) and pre-visit support for AWVs.

Compensation: $26.00 - $28.00 / hour

Description

About the Role: We are currently seeking a highly motivated Phlebotomist to support our Quality – Clinical Operations team at Astrana Health. This role reports to a Nurse Practitioner and is responsible for helping close care gaps for patients across the Fresno, CA market through in-home and in-clinic support.

This is a unique opportunity to join a growing team and take on an expanded Phlebotomist position that combines traditional blood draw responsibilities with broader clinical support, including health screenings and preventative care initiatives. What You'll Do

• Support Clinical Operations through in-home and in-clinic patient visits across the Fresno market
• Perform blood draws and safely transport/drop off specimens at contracted laboratory sites
• Operate clinical screening devices, including A1C testing, retinal eye exams, and osteoporosis screening equipment
• Assist with Health Risk Assessments (HRAs) and provide pre-visit support for Annual Wellness Visits
• Deliver high-quality patient care in both home and clinic settings, ensuring patient comfort and professionalism
• Manage schedules effectively, complete assigned visits on time, and maintain strong organization in a fast-paced environment
• Accurately document all patient interactions and procedures in the EMR system
• Support the Clinical Operations team with additional tasks to help close quality care gaps and improve patient outcomes
• Travel locally (within ~30 miles) to patient homes, with mileage reimbursement provide

Qualifications

• Active Phlebotomy certification (CPT I required)
• At least 1 year of phlebotomy experience in a clinical or similar setting
• Active BLS certification
• Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with patients
• Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and manage time effectively in a field-based role
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Resourceful, team-oriented mindset with a positive, no-ego attitude
• Passion for working with underserved populations and advancing value-based care initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual in Spanish or Mandarin
• Experience working in fast-paced or high-volume environments
• Strong organizational skills and self-motivation
• Excellent bedside manner, particularly when working with elderly patient populations

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions

• This is a full-time, onsite/field-based role; hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Approximately 90% of time spent in patient homes and 10% in clinic
• Mileage reimbursement provided
• You will be responsible for maintaining reliable transportation and for all vehicle-related expenses and issues, including but not limited to maintenance, repairs, flat tires, towing, parking violations, and similar costs
• You may be required to travel an additional 20-30 miles beyond your primary service area when business needs warrant, including when there are 2-3 or more patient visits scheduled within a particular geographic area
• Ability to work independently in the field and adapt to changing schedules and patient needs
