Job summary

Diagnostic Laboratories & Radiology in Dallas, TX is seeking a dedicated phlebotomist to join our team. This full-time role involves traveling to client facilities, drawing blood, and ensuring accurate patient identification and specimen labeling.

You will work across multiple shifts with a focus on quality and patient care. You will drive your own vehicle, perform venipuncture, and maintain neat records and equipment.

Qualifications

• Current clinical licensure, if required by state.
• Knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to lab work.
• Proficient phlebotomy procedures including venipuncture and tourniquet use.
• Current and valid driver's license and auto insurance.
• Access to a vehicle in good working condition and a clean driving record.
• Proficient in written and verbal English.

Responsibilities

• Drive to client facilities to collect blood samples as directed.
• Identify patients according to policy prior to drawing.
• Label specimens correctly with requisitions and billing info.
• Transport PHI in accordance with policy.
• Schedule draws and maintain logs and time sheets.
• Coordinate with dispatch, payroll, lab and courier teams.
• Maintain equipment and report issues promptly.
• Be available on duty and notify readiness for assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.

Job description

Multiple Shifts Available, Full-Time

Pay Range: $20.00- $22.50/hr., based on experience

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Employee will drive their personal vehicle (unless other accommodations are made) to client facilities (mostly nursing homes) as directed by company dispatcher or assigned Area Phlebotomy Supervisor/ Area Lead.
• Follows established phlebotomy procedures for obtaining blood samples from patients.
• Properly and accurately identify patients according to phlebotomy patient identification policy prior to drawing.
• Ensures that specimens are properly labeled, in the proper tube and accompanied by a completed requisition, including patient billing information prior to transport.
• Follows phlebotomy policy on transporting PHI.
• Plans, organizes draw schedule with attention to priority of patients.
• Completes written logs, time sheets and other required records in a neat and accurate manner.
• Works cooperatively with dispatch, payroll, laboratory and courier departments.
• Maintains all equipment in good working order and reports problem immediately to Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.
• When on-duty, answers company issued mobile device promptly and is ready and available to work.
• Notifies dispatch of availability for future assignment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have current clinical Licensure, if required by State.
• Must possess knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to laboratory purposes.
• Proficient in phlebotomy procedures, techniques, including venipuncture, tourniquet application/removal and decontamination of the puncture site.
• Knowledge of required specimen preservation, adequate patient preparation and specimen procedures.
• Must have a current and valid Driver's License and Auto Insurance.
• Must possess access to a vehicle in good working condition suitable to meet daily driving requirements.
• Must maintain a good driving record.
• Must be able to work under minimal supervision and accurately maintain time sheet records.
• Must understand and be knowledgeable of the resident rights, patient care and patient right to refuse.
• Ability to obtain blood specimens from patients under a variety of patient conditions.
• Proficient in written/verbal skills in the English Language.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients, patients, public and all staff members.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to take directions and conduct self in a professional manner.
