Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance; access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Good driving record and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate with dispatch and labs.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to client facilities (mostly nursing homes) to collect blood samples.
  • Follow established phlebotomy procedures for blood collection.
  • Identify patients per policy before drawing blood.
  • Label specimens correctly and attach requisitions with patient billing information.
  • Transport PHI according to policy.
  • Plan and organize draw schedules prioritizing patient needs.
  • Complete logs and time sheets accurately.
  • Coordinate with dispatch, payroll, laboratory and courier teams.
  • Maintain phlebotomy equipment and report issues promptly.
  • Be on-call when on-duty and available for assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.

Job description

Pay Range: $23-$26, depending on experience

Tasks And Responsibilities
  • Employee will drive their personal vehicle (unless other accommodations are made) to client facilities (mostly nursing homes) as directed by company dispatcher or assigned Area Phlebotomy Supervisor/ Area Lead.
  • Follows established phlebotomy procedures for obtaining blood samples from patients.
  • Properly and accurately identify patients according to phlebotomy patient identification policy prior to drawing.
  • Ensures that specimens are properly labeled, in the proper tube and accompanied by a completed requisition, including patient billing information prior to transport.
  • Follows phlebotomy policy on transporting PHI.
  • Plans, organizes draw schedule with attention to priority of patients.
  • Completes written logs, time sheets and other required records in a neat and accurate manner.
  • Works cooperatively with dispatch, payroll, laboratory and courier departments.
  • Maintains all equipment in good working order and reports problem immediately to Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.
  • When on-duty, answers company issued mobile device promptly and is ready and available to work.
  • Notifies dispatch of availability for future assignment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Must have current clinical Licensure, if required by State.
  • Must possess knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to laboratory purposes.
  • Proficient in phlebotomy procedures, techniques, including venipuncture, tourniquet application/removal and decontamination of the puncture site.
  • Knowledge of required specimen preservation, adequate patient preparation and specimen procedures.
  • Must have a current and valid Driver's License and Auto Insurance.
  • Must possess access to a vehicle in good working condition suitable to meet daily driving requirements.
  • Must maintain a good driving record.
  • Must be able to work under minimal supervision and accurately maintain time sheet records.
  • Must understand and be knowledgeable of the resident rights, patient care and patient right to refuse.
  • Ability to obtain blood specimens from patients under a variety of patient conditions.
  • Proficient in written/verbal skills in the English Language.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients, patients, public and all staff members.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to take directions and conduct self in a professional manner.
