Job summary

TridentCare is seeking a phlebotomist to travel to client facilities in the Camarillo, CA area, drawing blood and processing specimens according to policy. You will identify patients, label specimens, and coordinate with dispatch and lab teams to ensure timely sample transport.

The role requires current licensure, valid driver’s license, and strong English communication. You will work with minimal supervision and maintain accurate time records in a field-based environment.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as required by state.
• Knowledge of medical terminology related to laboratory work.
• Proficient in phlebotomy procedures including venipuncture and tourniquet use.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain time records.
• Proficient in English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Travel to client facilities using company vehicle or personal vehicle as needed.
• Follow established phlebotomy procedures for drawing blood.
• Identify patients accurately prior to drawing and label specimens correctly.
• Ensure specimens are properly labeled and accompanied by a completed requisition.
• Transport specimens with patient billing information.
• Coordinate with dispatch, payroll, laboratory and courier teams.
• Maintain equipment and report issues to Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.
• Answer company-issued mobile device promptly when on duty.
• Notify dispatch of availability for future assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.

Job description

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Employee will drive their personal vehicle (unless other accommodations are made) to client facilities (mostly nursing homes) as directed by company dispatcher or assigned Area Phlebotomy Supervisor/Area Lead.
• Follows established phlebotomy procedures for obtaining blood samples from patients.
• Properly and accurately identify patients according to phlebotomy patient identification policy prior to drawing.
• Ensures that specimens are properly labeled, in the proper tube and accompanied by a completed requisition, including patient billing information prior to transport.
• Follows phlebotomy policy on transporting PHI.
• Plans, organizes draw schedule with attention to priority of patients.
• Completes written logs, time sheets and other required records in a neat and accurate manner.
• Works cooperatively with dispatch, payroll, laboratory and courier departments.
• Maintains all equipment in good working order and reports problem immediately to Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.
• When on-duty, answers company issued mobile device promptly and is ready and available to work.
• Notifies dispatch of availability for future assignment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Must have current clinical Licensure, if required by State.
• Must possess knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to laboratory purposes.
• Proficient in phlebotomy procedures, techniques, including venipuncture, tourniquet application/removal and decontamination of the puncture site.
• Knowledge of required specimen preservation, adequate patient preparation and specimen procedures.
• Must have a current and valid Driver’s License and Auto Insurance.
• Must possess access to a vehicle in good working condition suitable to meet daily driving requirements.
• Must maintain a good driving record.
• Must be able to work under minimal supervision and accurately maintain time sheet records.
• Must understand and be knowledgeable of the resident rights, patient care and patient right to refuse.
• Ability to obtain blood specimens from patients under a variety of patient conditions.
• Proficient in written/verbal skills in the English Language.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients, patients, public and all staff members.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to take directions and conduct self in a professional manner.
