Job description

Job Title: Mobile Maintenance Planner

Location: Juneau, Alaska – On-Site | Relocation Required | 4 Days On / 3 Days Off

Hourly Pay: Starting at $45.04/hour

Overtime: Overtime available and paid in accordance with Alaska overtime rules

Relocation: $25,000–$30,000 lump-sum relocation allowance provided to support the move to Juneau

Bonus: 0–20% quarterly bonus on all earnings during the quarter, historically averaging approximately 16%

The Client: Our client is an established precious metals mining company with operating assets across North America and a strong track record of safe, responsible, and efficient mining operations.

They are currently adding a Mobile Maintenance Planner to their Centralized Maintenance team in Juneau, Alaska.

Reporting to the Superintendent – Reliability & Planning, this position will be responsible for planning and scheduling maintenance activities for mobile mining equipment while maintaining accurate equipment records, maintenance history, parts information, and preventative maintenance programs.

The successful candidate will work closely with maintenance, operations, engineering, warehouse, procurement, vendors, and other site teams to ensure mobile equipment maintenance activities are properly planned, resourced, documented, and executed.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance planner with a strong mechanical background who understands mobile mining equipment, maintenance systems, parts management, and preventative maintenance.

What you will achieve in this role:
  • Plan and schedule maintenance activities for mobile mining equipment
  • Develop and maintain accurate work orders, job plans, maintenance records, and equipment history
  • Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System to create, update, and maintain equipment records
  • Maintain equipment statistics including meter hours, job cards, requisitions, and maintenance-related data
  • Ensure maintenance information is entered accurately and maintain strong data integrity across equipment records
  • Work closely with maintenance team members to identify equipment issues and support effective maintenance solutions
  • Prepare maintenance reports and assist with preventative maintenance optimization
  • Maintain and track preventative maintenance and lubrication schedules
  • Support predictive and condition-monitoring programs designed to improve equipment reliability
  • Monitor maintenance performance standards and identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes
  • Coordinate with operations, engineering, and external service providers on maintenance activities and equipment upgrades
  • Support maintenance planning for mobile equipment across underground and surface operations
  • Assist with procurement of maintenance parts, services, and vendor support
  • Coordinate vendor scheduling and external maintenance support when required
  • Work with warehouse personnel to maintain appropriate maintenance stock levels
  • Maintain critical spares, consignments, parts listings, and equipment-related inventory information
  • Identify overstocked, understocked, obsolete, slow-moving, or incorrectly assigned parts
  • Support Asset Parts Lists and ensure equipment parts information remains accurate and current
  • Create and maintain equipment parts lists and supporting maintenance documentation
  • Coordinate repair-and-return items with warehouse personnel
  • Organize and track direct-issue procurement parts and their locations
  • Maintain equipment records, including original equipment information and modifications completed during the life of the asset
  • Assist with maintenance cost control, reporting, purchasing, and vendor contract administration
  • Support the development and refinement of process-based maintenance programs
  • Incorporate multi-disciplinary maintenance strategies to strengthen equipment reliability and availability
  • Ensure required safety and environmental preventative maintenance certifications and schedules remain current
  • Provide input into maintenance and operating procedures
  • Collect oil samples as required to support equipment condition monitoring
  • Support general maintenance administration including documentation, filing, meeting minutes, reports, and record keeping
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance, supply chain, operations, engineering, reliability, and external vendors
What you must bring to this role:
  • Strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
  • Maintenance trade school education is preferred
  • 5–7 years of experience in planning and scheduling maintenance for mobile equipment is preferred
  • Previous experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System is required
  • Experience with Ellipse or a similar CMMS is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of mobile equipment maintenance and repair requirements
  • Previous mining, heavy equipment, heavy industrial, or equipment-intensive maintenance experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand mobile equipment systems and maintenance requirements
  • Experience developing maintenance work orders, equipment histories, schedules, and preventative maintenance programs
  • Experience working with equipment parts, inventory, procurement, and warehouse teams
  • Understanding of preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance principles
  • Experience supporting maintenance reliability and condition-monitoring programs is considered a strong asset
  • Ability to interpret equipment records, maintenance history, work orders, and technical documentationStrong analytical skills and the ability to identify discrepancies within maintenance and equipment data
  • Self-motivated, proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple maintenance priorities within an active mining environment

Physical Requirements:

This position combines office-based maintenance planning with regular interaction in an active underground mining environment.

Successful candidates must be capable of performing physical requirements that may include:

  • Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods
  • Reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
  • Regularly lifting and moving up to 50 lbs
  • Occasionally lifting and moving up to 75 lbs
  • Carrying equipment or supplies for short distances
  • Safely navigating mine workings, maintenance areas, equipment locations, and access roads
  • Maintaining sufficient close and distance vision to safely work around mobile equipment and read equipment information
  • Communicating effectively with coworkers and supervisors both in person and over radio systems

A position-specific physical abilities assessment may be required as part of the hiring process.

Work Environment:
  • On-site position based in Juneau, Alaska
  • 4 days on / 3 days off schedule

  • Work within an active underground mining environment
  • Regular interaction with mobile equipment, maintenance personnel, warehouse teams, and mine operations
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat
  • Potential exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical equipment, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, vibration, electrical hazards, and explosives
  • Noise levels within operational areas may be very loud
  • Appropriate PPE and hearing protection must be worn when required
