Job summary

Johnson Controls in Austin, TX seeks an HVAC Truck Based Journeyman Mechanic (union) to service light to heavy commercial HVACR equipment. You will maintain and repair rooftop units, chillers, pumps and boilers, with travel to customer sites up to 20%.

Union membership or willingness to join is required, along with a universal EPA refrigerants license and a valid driver's license. We provide training through STA, tools, uniforms and a company vehicle.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of commercial/industrial mechanical troubleshooting in HVAC, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, boilers, chillers, compressors.
• Ability to perform mechanical shaft alignment with dial indicators.
• Must meet union membership requirements and hold EPA refrigerants license.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair and replacement on commercial heating and cooling systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment and provide quotes to customers for service work.
• Support service teams and apprentices, ensuring safe, high‑quality workmanship.
