Job summary

Commercial Metals Company in the United States is seeking a skilled heavy equipment mechanic to perform DOT maintenance, repair engines, hydraulics, and welding, and keep equipment in peak condition. You will troubleshoot issues, follow safety standards, and document repairs to support continuous operations.

Qualifications

• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, engines, mobile equipment and vehicles.
• Proficiency with a wide variety of mechanical tools and wiring knowledge.
• Welding, cutting and fabrication experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT maintenance on road tractors and trailers.
• Maintain mobile equipment, cranes, bearings, power transmission, hydraulics/pneumatics, and welding principles/rigging.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment and tools.
• Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions and troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs when needed.
• Ensure daily preventative maintenance on vehicles and mobile equipment, including fueling, cleaning, and checking/adding fluids as needed.
• Services machinery and mechanical equipment by completing repairs on engines, hydraulics systems, mobile and stationary equipment.
• Repair engine failures, mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, body repair and replacing parts and components.
• Maintains specified records of work performed, details of repairs, and material usage.
• Possess proficient skills utilizing hand tools, power tools and precision tools for performing all facets of the repair and maintenance process.
• Maintains work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows safety regulations.
• Participates in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively upholds the CMC Safety Culture.
• Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
