Job summary

Broussard Brothers, Inc. in Abbeville, LA is seeking an experienced Heavy-Duty Marine Diesel Mechanic to join our team as a Road Mechanic.

You will diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty marine diesel engines at marinas and waterfront locations, traveling to client sites with a company service truck. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in diesel mechanics, a trade certification is preferred, and strong communication skills for reporting and client interaction.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in the marine industry.
• Trade certification in heavy-duty diesel mechanics (preferred but not mandatory).
• Proficient in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, transmissions, and propulsion systems.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work in confined spaces, and tolerate various weather conditions.
• Strong verbal and written communication for client interaction and report writing.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair heavy-duty marine diesel engines and propulsion systems.
• Conduct scheduled maintenance, including fuel system cleaning and cooling system service.
• Provide mobile repair services with a company service truck on-site at client locations.
• Diagnose and repair marine electrical systems, including alternators, starters, batteries, and controls.
• Service hydraulic systems used in marine applications.
• Complete work orders, inspection reports, and service documentation accurately and timely.
• Adhere to safety regulations on-site and during travel.
