Job summary

Smith+ Nephew is seeking a Mobile Field Logistics Specialist in Knoxville, TN. The role supports on-site inventory and the delivery of surgical instruments and implant sets, coordinating schedules and shipments for daily operations.

You will manage inventory, perform order entry, and liaise with sales reps to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries. Must be able to work under pressure in a warehouse environment and be available for on-call shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2 years in operations, distribution, logistics, inventory management or related field.
• Valid Driver's License with clean record.

Responsibilities

We are the last mile and the difference between success and failure in thousands of hospitals and surgery centers each day, where our customers are helping their patients improve their lives. It can and will be stressful, but it is rewarding knowing that you played a critical part in the positive outcome for a patient whose life is being restored through our products. You are responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records of products as they flow through the territory. Accountability of products missing from sets is crucial to ensure proper billings. You will be responsible for case coverage, inventory management, and analyzing data. Mobile Field Logistics Specialist is an on-site member of the Logistics Team in a territory sales office(s). This role schedules, prepares, and ensures delivery of instruments and implant sets for surgery in the territory. This role is also responsible for coordinating surgery schedules, preparing, and ensuring accurate and timely delivery of instruments and implants sets for surgery. Good working knowledge of company products, operating system, and procedures is critical.

What will you be doing?

• Performs work duties accomplishing daily goals, including but not limited to, the picking of Finished Goods, packing of Finished Goods, maintaining inventory accuracy, sourcing cases, and overcommunication to the sales reps.
• Process all required order entry as directed to maintain and manage scheduled surgery cases on a daily basis.
• Perform all required and reporting to measure accuracy, utilization and validations while coordinating Mobile Logistics and shipment schedules daily to ensure most cost effective delivery methods are being utilized.
• Multi-tasking and working under pressure are strengths needed.
• High stress at times during the day while juggling multiple task to meet deadlines.
• Good housekeeping in all warehouse areas.
• Maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe work environment, and meeting daily shipping requirements.
• Required to perform on call support as required.
• Must be flexible with role and helping teammates when needed, driving a company van at times when needed and asked upon.
• Must be able to understand and perform the functions and procedures pertaining to the efficient operation of warehousing.
• Assist during physical inventories and/or field cycle counts ensuring the office inventory PI preparation is performed.
• Perform daily/period freight activity reviews on all FedEx and courier usage to ensure costing is correct and most economical.
• Must be willing to learn software systems such as Move Medical and SAP used on a daily basis.
• Must be able to train and direct other personnel in their duties, both clerical and physical.

What will you need to be successful?

• Education: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent Bachelor's degree preferred
• Experience: 2 years of relevant experience in operations, distribution, logistics, inventory management, customer service, or a related field preferred
• Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver's License with clean record
• Physical Ability to lift/carry up to 75 lbs
• Other: Be available for occasional on-call shift, work within a team, taking charge when needed, and be comfortable working in a warehouse environment.
