Job summary

York Building Products is seeking a Mobile Equipment Mechanic to service loaders, dozers, excavators, scrapers, backhoes, and haul trucks both indoors and outdoors.

You’ll diagnose, troubleshoot, weld, and repair, following safety procedures. Dealer training is provided to keep you current with today's equipment and technology.

Qualifications

• Has 3+ years of experience working on diesel trucks and/or heavy equipment.
• Knows their way around diesel engines, including engine overhauls.
• Can troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, transmission, and brake problems.
• Has experience with OEM diagnostic software.
• Can assess a machine by listening and diagnose the issue.
• Doesn't need supervision to complete tasks.
• Can work independently and as part of a team.
• Has a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Is willing to work overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair heavy mobile equipment and trucks.
• Troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, drivetrains, brakes, and electrical systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and keep equipment running.
• Use OEM diagnostic software to find problems and identify root causes.
• Inspect equipment and document repairs and maintenance in the CMMS system.
• Test equipment after repairs to ensure safety and readiness to work.
• Prioritize repairs to minimize downtime.
• Fabricate, modify, and install parts using shop tools.

York Building Products is looking for a Mobile Equipment Mechanic who knows their way around heavy equipment and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. We're talking loaders, dozers, excavators, scrapers, backhoes, articulated haul trucks, service trucks, and more.

This isn't a job where you'll spend all day changing oil.

You’ll diagnose. You’ll troubleshoot. You’ll weld. You’ll repair. You’ll figure out what's wrong and get the machine back to work.

And when you don't know something? We’ll help you learn it. Dealer training is provided so you can keep sharpening your skills and stay up to speed with today's equipment and technology.

WHAT'S IN YOUR TOOLBOX?

• Diagnose and repair heavy mobile equipment and trucks.


• Troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, drivetrains, brakes, and electrical systems.


• Perform preventative maintenance and keep equipment running strong.


• Use OEM diagnostic software to find problems and get to the root cause.


• Inspect equipment and document repairs and maintenance in our CMMS system.


• Test equipment after repairs to make sure it's safe and ready to get back to work.


• Help keep downtime to a minimum by prioritizing repairs and staying ahead of problems.


• Fabricate, modify, and install parts and equipment using welders, torches, plasma cutters, and other shop tools.


• Work alongside a team that understands that when the equipment stops, the whole operation feels it.


• Follow YBP safety procedures and MSHA/OSHA requirements—because getting the job done right means getting it done safely.

WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO...

• Has 3+ years of experience working on diesel trucks and/or heavy equipment.

• Can look at a machine, listen to what it's telling you, and figure out where the problem is.


• Doesn't need someone standing over their shoulder to get the job done.


• Can work independently and be part of a strong team.


• Has a valid driver's license and clean driving record.


• Is willing to work overtime when the job calls for it.

THIS ISN'T A CLEAN-HANDS KIND OF JOB.

You're going to work inside and outside around dust, noise, heat, cold, rain, wind, and some seriously big equipment.

You'll be climbing on machines, crawling around equipment, turning wrenches, bending, stooping, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
