Job summary

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is seeking a Maintenance Technician Floater to perform general maintenance and repairs across our facilities in Honolulu, HI. The role requires hands-on experience with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, drywall, and grounds care, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will possess a valid Hawaii driver’s license, be able to work independently or as part of a team, and demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Hands-on maintenance experience required across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting/drywall.
• Background check is required.
• Must possess valid Hawaii driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle.
• Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and work in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on facility equipment and property structures.

We are on the hunt for a reliable individual with qualified industry experience. Reporting directly to the Chief Building Engineer or the Account Manager-Engineering, the Maintenance Technician Floater will be tasked with general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment and property structures, as well as grounds maintenance. Candidates must pass a background check, possess a valid Hawaii driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, previous hands‑on maintenance experience, proficiency in light plumbing, electrical work,HVAC, carpentry, and painting/drywall, all tasks must be performed in accordance with EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety regulations. Excellent communication skills and the capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team are crucial. -Schedule: Varies - Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM - 8:30 PM (subjective to emergencies: after hours, weekends and holidays)

-Hourly Pay Rate: $24.00 - $26.00

-Key Responsibilities:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended period throughout the work shift.
• Willingness to work all weather conditions.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs: basic plumbing, light electrical, mechanical and HVAC,painting, drywall, carpentry, masonry, and grounds maintenance.
• Travel to various assigned locations to ensure coverage.
• Excellent customer service skills to interact with property managers, vendors, customers, etc.
• Ensure mechanical equipment and systems are working in order and fixed as necessary.
• Create and maintain work orders

• Report any maintenance or repair needs to supervisor.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by yourH.B.M. supervisor.

-Skills/Qualifications:

• Must pass H.B.M. prescreen check.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is a plus.
• A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle are essential.
• Flexibility in your schedule is a must.
• Must have your own basic hand tools.
• Proven experience in general preventative maintenance is required.
• Troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude are key.
• Follow verbal and written instructions in English with ease.
• Excellent public relations and communication skills.
• A customer service mindset.
• Strong organizational abilities.
• Perform basic manual labor and clean common areas. Handle lifting, pressing, pushing, pulling, and carrying at least 50lbs (up to 75lbs). Reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk, and navigate stairways and ladders with confidence.
• Stand throughout your shift with energy and enthusiasm.
