Job summary

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is seeking a qualified Maintenance Technician in Maui to perform general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment, structures, and grounds. The role requires hands-on experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and painting, with strict adherence to EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety standards.

This full-time position offers a Monday–Friday schedule (6:00 AM–2:30 PM) with a $21.00 hourly wage.

Qualifications

• Hands-on maintenance experience required.
• Proficiency in light plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting/drywall.
• Compliant with EPA, Hazmat and OSHA safety regulations.
• Valid Hawaii driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment and structures.
• Handle grounds maintenance and routine inspections.
• Troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, drywall and other facility components.
• Complete work orders promptly with high craftsmanship standards.
• Maintain safe, organized tools and work areas; follow safety policies.

We are seeking a qualified individual with industry experience. Reporting directly to the Chief Building Engineer or the Account Manager-Engineering, the Maintenance Technician will be tasked with general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment and property structures, as well as grounds maintenance. Candidates must pass a background check, possess a valid Hawaii driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, previous hands‑on maintenance experience, proficiency in light plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, and painting/drywall, all tasks must be performed in accordance with EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety regulations. Excellent communication skills and the capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team are crucial. Key Responsibilities

• Experience in commercial building maintenance, grounds maintenance or a similar trade is preferred.


• Proficient understanding of fundamental electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general repair techniques.


• Ensure that mechanical equipment and systems are functioning properly and repaired as needed.


• Capability to independently troubleshoot maintenance issues.


• Strong work ethic, dependability, and dedication to providing high-quality service


• Provide excellent customer service while interacting with co‑workers, property managers, vendors, and customers.


• Engage in constant movement, including standing, walking, bending, and stretching throughout shifts.


• Carry, push, pull and lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.)


• Conduct general building maintenance, repairs, and preventative upkeep.


• Troubleshoot and repair issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, painting, drywall, flooring, and other facility components.


• Complete work orders promptly while adhering to high standards of craftsmanship.


• Perform routine site inspections to identify and address maintenance issues.


• Keep tools, equipment, and work areas safe and organized.


• Communicate effectively with supervisors, property management, and customers.


• Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.


• Respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed.


• Maintain detailed records of completed work and materials utilized


• Valid Hawaii driver's license is preferred.
