Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Mobile Senior Software Engineer to design and build cutting-edge mobile applications. You will own end-to-end development from concept to deployment, collaborating with UI/UX, product managers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality apps.

Responsibilities include developing with React Native, building APIs, writing tests, and leading full lifecycle delivery while ensuring performance, security, and maintainability in a hybrid setup based in Austin or Warren.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years of experience in software development.
• 5+ years of experience in Mobile development.
• Experience using AI-assisted software development tools such as Cursor, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar technologies to improve developer productivity, code quality, testing, debugging, and software delivery.
• Must have experience as part of a software project delivery effort. (Deployments)
• Knowledge of Software testing, quality assurance and solutions testing including automation
• Knowledge of maintaining and debugging live software applications

Responsibilities

• Developing mobile application using React Native framework.
• Develop APIs to support mobile functionality while keeping up to date with terminology, concepts and best practices for coding mobile apps.
• Translating code into user-friendly applications and collaborating with internal teams to develop functional mobile applications in a fast-paced environment.
• Writing unit and UI tests to identify malfunctions.
• Full lifecycle application development using standard design patterns/frameworks.
• Assists with performance tuning and usability assessment/improvement.
• Proactively addressing software issues such as code quality, pattern mismatch, and security concerns.
• Documenting software solutions and ensure GM standards are met.
• Understanding and maintaining compliance with GM standards and industry standard methodology.
• Modeling GM behaviors and crafting a winning culture.
• Playing a leadership role in the team.
