Job summary

Baltimore County is seeking a skilled Electronics Installer in the Office of Information Technology, Division of Electronic Services, to equip vehicles with two-way radios, computers, antennas, and related hardware.

The role requires experience with emergency lights, sirens, and wiring, along with the ability to read schematics and lead others. Regular schedule includes 39 hours weekly and possible overtime.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience or training in auto/mobile electronics installation.
• Experience installing mobile radios, antennas, wiring and related equipment.
• Experience with emergency lighting, sirens, and electronic accessories.
• Experience using hand and power tools to install equipment.
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints and sketches for installation/maintenance.
• Experience leading or instructing others.

Responsibilities

• Installs two-way radios, mobile computers, antennas, transmission lines, wiring and other electronic equipment in vehicles.
• Installs interconnecting electrical and electronic equipment, sirens, intercom and public address systems.
• Performs testing, preventive maintenance and inventory of electronic equipment.
• Performs setup duties including minor wood and metal fabrication.
• Documents work performed.
• May program communications equipment.
• Cleans work area and performs other preventive maintenance.
• May lead or instruct lesser skilled workers.
• Performs other related duties as required.
