Job summary

GTG Peterbilt in Hays, KS is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician to travel to client sites and perform maintenance, repair, and diagnostic services on diesel trucks and equipment. You will handle engine services, brake work, DOT inspections, and related repairs with a focus on safety and customer service.

Applicants should have at least 3 years of diesel experience, DOT inspection certification, and be able to provide your own tools. CDL or eligibility within 90 days is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience with diesel truck and trailer repair, maintenance, and diagnostics.
• Minimum DOT Inspection Certified (additional schooling and certifications preferred).
• Must be able to provide sufficient tool inventory to perform job duties.
• Physical requirements include standing, bending, lifting (50+ lbs.), and sitting for long periods of time in varied temperatures and weather conditions.
• Experience interacting directly with customers with high levels of customer service and communication skills.
• Must have neat, legible handwriting.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Current CDL or be able to attain within 90 days of hire.
• Clean driving record, pre-employment drug screening and background check required.

Responsibilities

• Perform instructed and scheduled repair, maintenance, and services as needed on various vehicles and equipment as instructed by the Service Manager.
• Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator concerns.
• Conducting CVI and DOT inspections.
• Diagnosing and repair of minor engine issues.
• Repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions.
• Replacing basic parts and components.
• Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
• Communicate with customers in a professional manner on job status and schedule status.
• Communicate regularly with Service Management on job status and schedule status.
• Maintain appearance and service truck in a professional manner.
• Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
• Stock and maintain service truck inventory, tool collection, and all necessary paperwork daily (candidate to provide own tools).
• Adhere to all traffic laws.
• Must be able to work independently and communicate with team when needed.
