SUMMARY

Functions as an experienced mobile technician who is able to perform diagnoses and repairs of most vehicle components with little supervision required, and who has previously worked as a C Class general service technician.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

1. Perform light maintenance and repairs.
2. Plan ahead for repairs and tasks to ensure the proper parts and tools are available on-site.
3. Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
4. Save and tag parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the manufacturer.
5. Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
6. Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
7. Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
8. Communicate findings to Supervisor.
9. Notify supervisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
10. Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
11. Diagnose cause of most malfunctions and perform repair.
12. Road test vehicles when required or refer to the test technician.
13. Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
14. Supervise work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
15. Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
16. Ensure that customers' cars are kept clean.
17. Maintain a neat and clean shop area.
18. Be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals.
19. Comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
20. Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
21. Report any safety issues immediately to management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Two to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Half of the certifications of a master certified technician depending on area of expertise.
