Responsibilities

The Mobile Service Technician is responsible for maintaining the fleet for clients and handling service calls at client locations. Provide excellent customer service, including tasks such as cleaning, maintenance, visual inspections, and removal of parts and attachments. Installation will be performed with the help of proper manuals, along with report writing, disassembly, assembly, parts reuse evaluation, and reconditioning.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
  • Perform basic maintenance of trucks, including filling tanks with fuel, checking oil, keeping vehicles clean, and ensuring required inspections are performed and documented.
  • Manage inventory control on the service truck and ensure the vehicle is properly stocked.
  • Report to the Service Manager and perform assigned duties daily.
  • Be available for after-hours service calls and maintain an open work schedule.
  • Maintain and inventory tools required for maintaining diesel engine trucks and related equipment.
  • Read job orders and observe vehicle operation to determine malfunctions and plan work procedures.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and technical information to determine issues and perform repairs.
  • Diagnose, remove, and replace parts such as injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, batteries, transmissions, and other components.
  • Complete diagnostic and documentation functions using the company computer system.
  • Inspect safety devices and guards on trucks, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Lubricate moving parts and verify repairs through test drives.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as requested.
  • Accurately document work performed and submit paperwork or enter data into the mobile service program promptly.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive relations.
  • Advise customers or service writers on upcoming repairs or services within the next three months.
  • Participate in training sessions and apply learned skills on the job.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
  • Valid CDL and Medical card as required by FMVSS.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills.
