Job summary

W.Williams in Portland, ME is seeking a Mobile Fleet Technician to perform on-site preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel engines and heavy-duty trucks at customer locations. This role requires strong diagnostic skills, safety awareness, and the ability to work independently in varying environments.

You will conduct inspections, plan repair work, document services, and support junior technicians. DOT compliance and high-quality workmanship are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of diesel repair experience in fleet, dealership, or mobile technician settings.
• Certificate from a technical school or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Valid Driver’s License and DOT Medical Card (or ability to obtain).
• ASE Certifications: T4, T7, T8 and MACS 609 or equivalent A/C certification.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across brake, emissions, electrical, and HVAC systems.
• Ability to plan repairs and manage parts reuse.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site repairs and preventive maintenance on diesel engines and heavy‑duty trucks per manufacturer specs.
• Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to identify worn or damaged parts.
• Create and execute repair plans, estimating labor hours and parts needed.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, A/C, emissions, and other diesel components.
• Complete PM services, DOT inspections, and accurate documentation.
• Use diagnostic software and follow electronic repair procedures.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas on customer sites and in the company vehicle.
• Keep accurate records for invoicing and warranty claims.
• Utilize company tools and maintain personal tool inventory per policy.
• Support and train junior technicians as needed.
• Adhere to safety, EPA, and company policies.
