Job summary

North Central Behavioral Health Systems seeks a Peer Support Specialist to join our Mobile Crisis Response Team in Morris, IL. You will provide trauma-informed, recovery-based peer support, engage with individuals in crisis, and connect them to community resources across homes, schools, hospitals, and community settings.

We value lived experience with behavioral health or substance use, a high school diploma, and the ability to work flexible hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Personal lived experience with behavioral health and/or substance use recovery.
• Ability to utilize lived experience in a professional and recovery-oriented manner.
• Ability to establish positive and supportive relationships with individuals experiencing crisis.

Responsibilities

• Serve on Mobile Crisis Response Team with Crisis Counselor.
• Provide crisis support in homes, schools, hospitals, and community settings.
• Use recovery-focused, trauma-informed approaches to engage clients.
• Identify strengths and connect to community resources.
• Assist with de-escalation and safety planning during crises.
• Maintain records per agency and payer requirements.
