Job summary

Comprehend seeks a dedicated Peer Support Specialist to join its Crisis Team in Maysville, KY. The role focuses on mentoring clients, sharing lived experience, and contributing to daily team staffing and treatment planning.

You will work with families and clients, participate in meetings, and assist with follow-up while maintaining timely documentation. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required; Peer Support Certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of volunteer or work experience with adults with behavioral health challenges.
• Capable of visiting consumers in their homes or the community.
• Must manage own mental illness and be well established in recovery.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Member of the multidisciplinary Crisis Team with lived experience of behavioral health services.
• Share personal experience and insight to benefit clients and the team.
• Mentor clients to promote hope and empowerment in treatment.
• Participate in daily team staffing and treatment plan reviews.
• Assist with follow up of clients served by Crisis team.
• Attend staff meetings, in-service trainings and workshops.
• Complete documentation in a timely and accurate manner per records guidelines.
• Swing shift may be required; hours vary due to mobile crisis unit.
• Foster collaborative relationships with families.
• Demonstrate communication and leadership to enhance family involvement.
• Show care, balance, creativity and commitment to children and families served.
• Advocate for clients, parents and caregivers at local/state levels.
• Cover 988 hotline shifts.
