Job summary

Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking Corrections Officers. The annual salary listed includes a $1.50 per hour maximum security differential ($3,120 annually) for all full-time positions housed in a maximum-security institution.

Responsibilities include supervising officers, conducting orientation and in-service training, enforcing rules, inspecting facilities, handling incidents, and promoting rehabilitation. A physical exam and possibly a valid driver's license may be required.

Qualifications

• Six or more months of experience as a Correctional Officer or Probation and Parole Assistant with the Missouri Department of Corrections; OR
• One or more years of military service, or experience in the custody of adult criminal offenders in a city, county, state, or federal facility.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Correctional Officers; develops expectations/monitors performance and work habits.
• Assists in orientation and in-service training programs.
• Observes personnel to ensure compliance with rules and procedures.
• Conducts on-the-job training for Correctional Officers.
• Patrols living quarters and facilities to observe offender behavior and security.
• Prepares reports on offender violations and security issues.
• Inspects buildings and equipment for safety and sanitation.
