Job summary

Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) in Lubbock, TX, is seeking an APS Investigator Specialist I for full-time service. The role conducts investigations, serves in a mobile field capacity, and develops care plans for protective services clients.

Starting salary aligns with state pay bands and includes extensive benefits. Applicants must have related degrees or credits, and be able to travel up to 85% with a valid Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of agency policies, procedures, and standards.
• Knowledge of Texas laws relating to adult protective services.
• Knowledge of gerontology and the aging process.
• Knowledge of diverse cultures and values.
• Skill in building effective working relationships.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Investigates reports of abuse or exploitation of elderly or disabled adults.
• Provides services after hours and on weekends to ensure 24-hour coverage.
• Develops individualized service plans and maintains case documentation.
• Prepares routine and special reports for management.
• May serve in lead capacity in absence of supervisor.
